Hey there! I’m Jeremy
Do you ever find yourself asking any of these questions?
How do I start cooking from scratch?
How do I eat more whole foods?
How do I grow my own food?
How do I become more self-sufficient?
Don’t worry you are in the right place.
Homestead Ahead is here to answer your questions and guide you on your journey towards self-sufficiency.
I, Jeremy Blevins, am an aspiring homesteader working towards a life of self-sufficiency.
I have always been very independent and interested in learning how to do almost everything for myself.
A real hands-on kind of guy, I have worked as a cook and have had a variety of hobbies such as gardening, fish keeping, photography, and…etc.
Growing up in a rural area of Tennessee, I saw a lot of farmers and homesteaders first hand. I always wanted to be able to own some land someday and put in the work to be able to live a totally self-sustained life on my own land.
However, land is becoming more scarce as the American population grows and it made him realize that homesteading is not necessarily defined by where you live, but by the lifestyle choices you make.
I knew I could start my homesteading journey even in my small apartment just outside of the big city of Portland, Oregon.
I started growing lettuce indoors, making his own cleaning products, reducing plastic consumption, and making do with what I have.
Although my goal is to own some acreage one day there are so many things you can do right now regardless of where you live.
There is definitely a Homestead Ahead but the journey and steps it takes to get there are just as important.
This blog follows that journey and the lessons learned along the way.
My goal is to share how everyone can take steps toward self-sufficiency regardless of the size of your homestead or where you are.
